The winter league provides the main competitive focal point of the
Somerset SRA. The league has run to roughly the same format for many
years. However, it has shrunk to its present level of three Divisions,
all very enthusiastic and competitive. It is hoped that the interest
will improve over the next few years, and that even more teams can be
encouraged to join in the fun.
The season runs from late October to around mid March. Each team plays against the other on a home and away basis. Clubs and teams across the county, from Leisure Centres, Squash Clubs, Military establishments and Local companies all participating. Apart from providing a well matched environment for competitive squash, all matches are highly social occasions as the match is always followed by a meal and drinks, with the home team acting as hosts.
All Standards of squash are catered for, from the top county level in the Men's Division one, to the club level in Division three. No matter what Division, all players having a very entertaining evening. Get in touch with the website coordinator if;
(a) you think you could find 5 or 6 players to form a team on a regular basis;
(b) you have some where to play;
(c) you can find somewhere to entertain and provide food and drinks after the match;
(d) you enjoy a good sporting evening with people who play squash at a similar level
(e) All players must be affiliated to England Squash We currently do not have a Ladies division; however, if enough interest we would certainly reintroduce to the Somerset Squash winter league
Somerset Squash also participates in inter-county matches, this can be at Junior and Senior levels and over 35, 45 and 55 levels.
