Congratulations to
Avalon who have led the division from the beginning
and end up as winners by 9 points and convincingly
beat Sydenham 16-5 in their final match. Merriot
also had an excellent year ending up in second place
and have been consistently narrowing the gap at the
top in recent weeks. Wyvern finished third and ended
on a strong note with a 15-4 win against Wellington.
Yeovil, in fourth place, also ended well with a 15-7
win against King Alfreds. |

The top of the table
clash resulted in a 13-9 Merriot 3 victory over
Huish, giving Merriot 3 a very convincing 29 point
margin and the second half division 2 crown. Merriot
2 beat West Somerset 14-9 to leave them in 3rd place
only 6 points behind Huish. More crucial was West
Somerset's 9 points as only one point separated the
bottom 3 teams and these points just scraped them
into 4th place. At the bottom of the table Sydenham
3 managed a narrow but essential 14-9 win over
Wyvern 2 bringing the two teams level on 96 points.
Sydenham's higher number of matches won moves them
to 5th place leaving Wyvern 2 in 6th. |

Merriot emphatically won
the division by 26 points after taking 18 off Huish.
The battle for second place between Wyvern and
Yeovil produced the expected close finish with
Wyvern beating Yeovil 13-11 with those 2 points
being the margin between the teams. Only just behind
was the battle for 4th place which was eventually
won by Wellington 3 by 4 points despite Wellington 2
winning the final match 12-8. A very close and
interesting first half. |

deservedly win the division after being consistent
throughout. The playoff between Merriot and King
Alfred's should be close and make a fitting climax

With only 36 points

tightly fought division. In the end Merriot won
relatively comfortably by 17 points only losing the one
match to Wyvern. Wyvern just hung on to 2nd spot but
lost their last 3 matches and only just behind them were
Street, Sydenham and Wellington. Yeovil, in bottom
place, won their last 2 matches against Sydenham and
Wyvern ans were looking likely to move up the table
given time. |

Congratulations to Sydenham
1 on comprehensively winning Somerset's Division 1 with one match still to play. Positions 2 to 4 are very closely competed with Merriot just shading it by 5 points from Wellington and by 11 points from Gatchell. However both Wellington and Gatchell have a game in hand. Remaining matches are Wellington vs Sydenham and King Alfreds vs Gatchell |

The final match in this division was Gatchell's 15-5 victory over Sydenham. This makes Gatchell the
division 2 winners by 6 points from King Alfred's. There was a considerable gulf between the two top teams and the rest. Sydenham closely edged it by 8 points over Huish. It was a pity there were so few teams, but it ended up being a thoroughly enjoyable division. |
